A Little Aloha From the Mainland (or) a Hurricane named Kim

Filed under: Crappola — DB @ 3:23 pm

At least we had a little advanced warning of this force of nature, and the anticipation was worth the wait.

If you’ve ever met people in your life with whom you somehow felt an instant love and respect for, you’ll understand.  If not, then hopefully one day you will get to meet Kim and her Jeffey.Kim and Jeff at Kailua

Christine and I were looking forward to meeting them during their visit, and we certainly were not dissapointed.  People always wonder if the people they meet on the Internet are actually the same in person.

These two will keep you in stitches, banter back and forth with faked and joking anger, and all the while they both glow with love and friendship for each other.

I can’t say that we "know" Kim and Jeff, after all we only got to spend a day with them.  I do know that I felt very happy to have spent even that small amount of time with both of them, and it’s a time we won’t forget.  I hope that one day the little bits of Hawaii that Kim sneeks into her baggage to take back to Ohio with them will one day bring them back to us.

Hurricane Kim may not know where pinneapples come from (no Kim, they don’t grow in trees, lol ), but from discussing the plight of the homeless, to politics, raising kids, and ecology, she has much more understanding and compassion than most people.  I watched as Jeff withstood her winds and mock battling like a big old cyprus tree bending in the wind, only to snap back smiling with his own brand of humor.  All the while with the glint of love between them, like the moon overhead as they sat together on the beach.

Aloha you two, and Mahalo for the time you spent with us.  The downside to living in paradise is having to say Goodbye… So I’ll just say "Until we meet again."
