When are people going to learn?
In a letter to the editor a mother recently noted that her son and his friends, out for a quiet dinner in Honolulu, were accosted by war protestors. As if her son was responsible for the war because he happens to be a soldier.
These protesters were rude and confrontational to the point of using obscene language and gestures. One of them, an older man, even told them that they were doing nothing in Iraq but raping and stealing. They were also told by the group that they were not welcome in Hawaii and should "leave the island." Star Bulletin
This reminds me of another time when our men and women were blamed for yet another unpopular war, and suffered the ridicule of their own people. Why can’t people understand that it isn’t our wives, husbands, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters fighting in the war that make policy? They’re just the ones on the front line that are defending the protestor’s right to protest. Sometimes I really hate it when I’m right.
I fully believe in the right of our citizens to protest, but taking your frustrations, anger, and need to get on TV out on soldiers who are just trying to do what they get paid for is just wrong. Trust me, they certainly don’t enjoy getting shot at any more than the protestors would if they were on the front line.
Let’s not start the same anti-war crap crap that tore up the country during Viet Namh and caused years of resentment and discord in America. Spreading the seeds of discord in the end is doing Americas’ enemies work for them.
